Thomas Lofton McLean has been writing fiction since 8th grade. Born in Sarasota, Florida, he and his family moved to Columbus, Georgia - once the home of Carson McCullers - in the early 80s. He graduated high school as valedictorian in 1998 after taking a man to the prom, which was covered on the nightly news for a week.
After graduating with a double major in Psychology and Sociology from Oglethorpe University in 2002, he misguidedly pursued a PhD at Purdue University in social psychology, somehow stumbling into a Masters Degree in Statistics in 2007. He moved back to Georgia to help care for his mother, who had Alzheimer’s Disease.
His first major publication was in 2011 with an essay on PopMatters.com about the television show “Six Feet Under.”
He has worked at two Atlanta non-profits (Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta and Skyland Trail), and has also worked at Delta Air Lines. He lives with his husband in Lawrenceville, GA, with two cats, Luke and Leia.
